February 2024 Campus Police Report

Last month, three students were removed from housing and seven non-traffic tickets were issued to four total students. There is one ongoing investigation about the numerous false fire alarms pulled.

  • February 6: An individual (not ICC-affiliated) was found parked on campus overnight at the Peoria Campus. Due to having a suspended driver’s license, the vehicle was towed off campus.
  • February 12: A resident at Campus Housing reported their bedroom door was pushed in with the frame damaged. No items were taken from the room and no other damage was done.
  • February 13: A student was reported to have stolen items from the Cafeteria. It was determined to potentially be a scanning error and the items were then paid for by the student.
  • February 14: A resident at Campus Housing reported that an individual threatened them over the phone while off campus. The resident was offered a temporary emergency apartment move for safety. This incident was an escalation from previous incidents involving three residents, and all three residents were removed from Campus Housing.
  • February 16: A student was found with cannabis on property in their vehicle. The cannabis was seized and the individual was issued a ticket.
  • February 18: Officers responded to a standby request at Campus Housing for a resident to remove items from a dating partner’s apartment. After investigation, one of the residents was issued a ticket for Disorderly Conduct that occurred before officers arrived.
  •  February 19: A resident was issued 3 tickets (2 for Loud Noise and 1 for Non-Compliance with Authorities) after numerous complaints and responses from officers at Campus Housing.
  • February 21: Two residents at Campus Housing were issued tickets for Possession / Consumption after someone reported the smell of cannabis and an investigation revealed they had been smoking in the apartment.

Safety Tip:

Numerous false fire alarms have been activated at Campus Housing in the past 6 weeks. Pulling a false fire alarm is a Class 4 Felony, punishable by jail time, community service, and heavy fines. False fire alarms create unnecessary panic and inconvenience to residents, as well as tying up law enforcement and fire department resources.
