EAST PEORIA — If you are a person that enjoys art or the simplicity of art, then you would enjoy the art exhibit that is on display on the third floor of the Academic Building across from Cafe Brave.

The artist, Doug Goessman, held an open reception on January 22 for his art exhibit, which he titled Playland. With paintings featuring a childhood icon Ronald McDonald as the main focus, it had an artsy, as well as a nostalgic, feel to it.

“It’s familiar to people,” Goessman said, on why he chose the topic. “It’s something that I remembered as a child and will remember as an adult.”

There were many people that attended the reception and enjoyed the art that was on display. Not only did ICC students attend, but some of Goessman’s students from Peoria’s Richwoods High School, where he teaches art, were also present.

Within the gallery you will also find paintings of the infamous comic book villain The Joker, as well as a few featured paintings by some of his students over the years. The art has various and playful colors.

The gallery will be on display until February 13. If you enjoy art as well as a trip down memory lane, you should check out Playland by Doug Goessman.
