Transitioning to college can come with many challenges and can be scary for some but Illinois Central College (ICC) helps to make the transition a bit more breezy. There are many amenities offered on campus to enhance the lives of ICC students.

Residential students have the benefit of a quick commute on foot. The apartment-style dorms create a more homely atmosphere so you can better indulge yourself in the college experience. On-campus living also comes with on-site laundry that has comparable prices to that of local laundromats and you are able to pay for your cycle using a mobile app. Not only can you pay for it electronically but you can also see what units are available and check the status of your own cycles. No more hauling jars or socks full of quarters back and forth.

Residential students are not the only portion of the community with amenities available. Offered to all students on campus is access to ICC’s Coffee Lounge, located on the third floor of the technology center, they serve a limited menu of Starbucks beverages. The Coffee Lounge is a great place to meet for group studying, to relax and catch up on schoolwork, or just visit and connect with peers.

Also available on the East Peoria campus is the Canteen Dining Hall, located at 201A in the Academic Building, providing a variety of affordable meals and snacks. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and lunch is offered from 10:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with daily specials available. In addition to the peak meal times, Grab-and-Go services are available until 10 p.m. Peoria Campus also offers on-campus dining available in the Student Center Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

ICC also provides students with a food pantry available on both Peoria and East Peoria campuses to assist during those times when money is limited. The Peoria campus offers food pantry services in the Student Center, room S221, Monday through Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. East Peoria campus holds its food pantry in the Student Services Lobby, room L215, Monday and Friday 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 3 p.m. If services are needed outside of these times, reach out to Student Services and they will assist you in meeting your food needs.

When you’re done exercising your mind, you can exercise your body down at the Fitness Center in the Cougarplex on the East Peoria campus. They offer a variety of membership plans for students living on and off campus.

If you are experiencing unmanaged levels of stress, or anxiety or need assistance with any mental health-related struggles you can schedule a visit with a campus counselor. Available to students and staff at no cost, you can meet with a counselor to help you manage those overwhelming feelings or other severe mental health issues. They offer both one-on-one and group counseling services. In addition to free counseling on campus, they have listed outside resources online to further help you in a time of need. You are able to schedule an appointment online or over the phone at (309) 694-5281.
