HARRISON, AR – When the ICC Women’s Basketball team (27-8) tips off against the Owens Express (26-5) at North Arkansas College on Friday afternoon, it’ll be win or go home. After a loss to the top seed Monroe in the Quarterfinal round, the Cougars would find themselves taking on the Express, who lost to Mesa on a late shot by the Thunderbirds, 70-68.

The Cougars will look to have a reversal of fortunes right from the opening tip, as they had a slow start against Monroe in the quarterfinal. ICC Head Coach Karrie Redeker believes they just need to forget that start and move on.

“I think we put it behind us. I think if something goes wrong, your first inclination is to scrap it. Certainly playing a more complete game and making sure our kids are locked and loaded from the get go.”

ICC did have three players in double figures, those being Abby Coates, Madison Faulkner, and Jasmine Levy, who had 10 points each. Coates and Faulkner both brought in six rebounds as well.

In Owens’ quarterfinal loss, the Express, like the Cougars, had three in double figures. Dai’Shona Washington-Polk paced the team with 20 points, followed by 16 points from Essence Cowan and and 14 points from Da’Vina Shelton.

With this being a win or go home situation, Redeker says that it will hopefully add motivation for her squad.

“If it doesn’t, it should. I definitely think we want to go all out and leave everything on the floor. You don’t always get the opportunity to live for another day. We control our destiny. I think if we play hard, good things will happen.”

As far as the Express, Redeker says there’s certainly some key aspects of their team to watch for.

“They’re a very good team. They have a point guard who kind of runs the show, but then they’ve got two shooters on the perimeter. They don’t beat themselves. We’ve going to have to come ready to play.”

Owens – ICC tips at 3:00 pm from Pioneer Pavilion at North Arkansas College. The loser packs their bags for a Saturday drive home, while the winner plays the host North Arkansas on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
