Passing it Along

During the Pandemic, the art department faced hardships for ICC campus, not being able to showcase any new artwork due to most of its art students not being able to attend in-person classes. It could take a couple of semesters to get back on track to where it was before Coronavirus. Meanwhile, there is so much art around campus that goes unnoticed! Passing it Along was created by Dee Clements and the sculpture is located outside the Performing Arts Center.
Dee Clements leaves us with a message stating “Virtually everything we are, has been taught or provided for us by others. Perhaps our own significance can be best measured by what we pass along. – Phil & Barb Kuhl, donors” which seemed a bit coincident that it sits on campus where the last generation is teaching the next generation from their experiences and knowledge. Granted it’s only a sculpture of a boy learning the Banjo. To think about this sculpture on a higher level, this piece offers insight into the gift of knowledge that continues to be passed down here on campus.
Take a moment when you have free time to go and look at this piece and think about what this piece could mean to you in your life. Pass it along by sharing the emotions you felt toward the piece with a friend. Leave a Comment under this post. We would love to see what different perspectives come from one piece of art.
