Jan 20 is an annual celebration for those who have a deep appreciation for creating and listening to music. National DJ Day became a national observance day in honor of Albert “Alan” James Freed following his death in 1999. Freed, also known as Moondog, was a well-known DJ during the 1950s and is best known for having coined the term “Rock ‘N’ Roll.”

In honor of National DJ Day, we took to the community with hopes of showing appreciation to our local musical artists. During this search, we came across a young man pursuing his passion for making music.

William Martinez, also known as DJ No Nahme, was born and raised right here in the heart of Illinois. DJ No Nahme is new to the turntables with only three years of experience, but his passion for music is one he has carried with him since early childhood. He is a talented violinist and plans to incorporate a classical spin on today’s hottest hits during his performances.

“Its the look of joy on the faces of my fans that have inspired me to turn my passion into a career. The crowd gets so excited when I spin an old song that they may not have heard in forever, with something hot on the radio right now”.
