ICC Women’s Basketball Snag 8th Straight Win
By: Dane Poe (February 18, 2020)
The Cougars catch their eighth straight win on Saturday the 15th against Danville Area Community College. The final score was 64-51. The Cougars were in control the entire game and didn’t let the Jaguars catch up.
The Cougars were led by Summer Stoewer with 21 points. Stoewer was lighting it up going 8-12 in shooting including 5-8 behind the arc. “She has excellent mechanics and can get hot in a hurry,” ICC head coach Karrie Redeker responded. “We definitely needed her outside shooting against Danville’s zone.”
Not a lot of stats coming from the Cougars’ bench but a lot of energy was thanks to them. “Our players understand that “the bench is a position” and that their energy has a direct impact on the game so our staff consistently reinforces that concept by praising those who are actively engaged,” Coach Redeker responded.
The Cougars stayed still in the new NJCAA Division II rankings at 13. The Cougars’ next game is on Wednesday the 19th against Parkland College at the CougarPlex. That game starts at 5:30 pm. The Cougars then follow up that game with a tough matchup against #3 ranked Lincoln Land on the 22nd in Springfield. However, ICC did hand Lincoln Land one of their two losses on the season in an 80-73 victory.
