by Dane Poe (February 11, 2020)
ICC women’s basketball faced off against John Wood Community College on Saturday February 8th. The Cougars won by a score of 84-47. That gives them their sixth straight win and moves their record to 18-6.
The Cougars had four players score in double digits led by Summer Stoewer who had 20 points. Ayana Gibbs racked up a double-double scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds.
“One of the things that’s been a staple of our program is that we share the ball and that showed as we had 21 assists,” ICC coach Karrie Redeker responded.
ICC won in every category in the box score except for personal fouls in which both teams had 17.
“In addition to sharing the ball, we hang our hat on working together to be engaged defensively and when we do that, it usually helps our offense a lot too,” Redeker responded.
The Cougars moved from 14th in the NJCAA Division II rankings up to 13th. These rankings are as of February 10th, 2020.
The Cougars play at Lewis and Clark Community College on Wednesday the 12th in Godfrey, Illinois and then Danville Area Community College on Saturday the 15th at the CougarPlex.
