This September marked the start of construction on the Edwards/Library Administration Building on ICC’s East Peoria campus as well as on the Nature Court Bridge.

Jeff LaGrow, ICC’s Senior Director of Facilities Services, gave insight on the current projects. New aluminum framing and Low-E insulated glass will be replacing the current panels and window systems on the front of the Library Administration building.

The walk-over bridge leading to the Technology Center will be modified as well. The timeline for this project is September 2021 to March 2022.

The current construction on the Nature Court Bridge consists of making repairs to the concrete and joints and repainting it. The bridge is aimed for mid to late November 2021.

Mr. LaGrow explained that both projects were meant to start earlier but were postponed due to COVID-19 until now.

These are not the only projects in the works, however. ICC will be kept busy this school year with a new workforce sustainability center.

In place of the existing Dirksen building, this new space will provide classes such as solar panel installation and HVAC work. Construction begins this fall and is projected to be finished by fall 2022 or early spring 2023.

A new pedestrian bridge and a courtyard renovation are currently in design. The Nature Court Bridge will be replaced with a prefabricated covered one instead.

The courtyard renovation includes, but is not limited to, more greenspace, concrete replacement, walkways, handrails. The goal is to begin construction in either summer 2022 or early fall 2022. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming campus projects.
