Illinois Central College (ICC) held its monthly Board of Trustees meeting (BOT) on Thursday, February 24. The BOT meeting is held on the third Thursday of every month and consists of officials elected by the community.

The main topic among many discussed was the Illinois Tutoring Initiative. This newly established initiative is a state-funded grant designed around partnerships with local school districts that COVID-19 has impacted to help low-income students and families.

The Illinois Tutoring Initiative has launched with $25 million in partnership with the Governor’s Office, the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Board of Higher Education, and the Illinois Community College Board. This initiative aims to provide tutoring for nearly 8,500 Illinois students participating in a two-year program. Students will either study one-on-one or do small group tutoring for about three hours a week for eight weeks.
