This past weekend, Illinois Central College and Bradley University students performed with the Heartland Festival Orchestra in their first video game-themed event, titled “Video Games in Concert”.

The performance contained music from well-known and beloved video game franchises. However, games from Bradley University game developers were included, as well. The games developed by Bradley University students are titled “Disaster Golf” and “Bellisimo”.

The list of video games performed that night included: Metal Gear Solid, Shadow of the Collasal, Mass Effect, World of Warcraft, Okami, Uncharted 2, The Secret of Monkey Island, Disaster Golf, Tomb Raider, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, League of Legends, The Last of Us, Undertale, Castlevania, Bellisimo, Skyrim, Halo, and Final Fantasy VII.

The director of the show, David Commandy, commenting on the show, said, “People should keep coming to live music, there’s nothing quite like it.”

There was one especially notable member who was a part of the ICC choir: Guido Rochin. Guido Rochin was the season four winner of “La Voz México” (“The Voice Mexico”). He is now attending Illinois Central College and is in his second year.

After the show, he commented about the performance saying, “I enjoyed singing video game music; it was something new to me because I had never sung that kind of music. I love to sing; I love the music. Every time I have the opportunity of sharing my voice, especially with my friends at ICC.”
