Monday, August 27th, 2018 – A speed painter, a sewist, and ICC’s student groups will each have a presence this Wednesday (August 29th)—a big day for the arts and student life at Illinois Central College. Student clubs and organizations will be promoted at the Student Expo. Then, two artists will introduce themselves and present their works.
The Student Expo
From bass fishing to politics, the expo gives ICC’s student groups a space to introduce themselves, broadening awareness for the extracurricular opportunities they provide. ICC’s varied groups of diverse interests will be present in the courtyard of the East Peoria campus from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29th.
Meet Trish Williams, creator of P.I.E.C.E.S.
A single thread can have expression; but when its color, width, and texture are conformed into an item—be it art, dolls, or even a tapestry—they can tell a whole new story. Trish Williams’ story is a vision of African diaspora. It’s a story about her community, articulated through thread. Williams’ exhibit, P.I.E.C.E.S., stands for Precepts Inspirited by Episodes of Creative Expressions of Self. It’s currently on display at ICC’s Performing Arts Center Gallery. Williams will be there to discuss her art on Wednesday, August 29th from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Meet Michael Israel, humanitarian speed painter
Michael Israel is adept and quick with a paintbrush. He is in town to support and perform in an upcoming gala for Peoria Promise. They are dedicated to raising a skilled workforce in Peoria by providing tuition funds to high school graduates at ICC. Israel will demonstrate his artistry in Room 212C/D in the Academic Building of ICC on Wednesday, August 29th from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
