Campus Police Report August 2014

4:08 p.m. August 4 – ICC officers and the East Peoria Fire Department responded to a smoke alarm in the Caterpillar Tech building on East Peoria Campus.  There was no fire.  The alarm appeared to be triggered by vehicles running in the building.

5:00 p.m. August 6 – Vending machines in two women’s restrooms on the Downtown Campus were broken into. An unknown amount of coins were taken.

5:56 p.m. August 6 – A vehicle parked in the disc golf parking area was burglarized. Several items were stolen. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

7:54 a.m. August 8 – An arrest warrant for Failure to Appear on a charge of Criminal Trespass was served on a subject at the Downtown Campus.  The subject was transported to Peoria County Jail.

2:41 a.m. August 9 – A subject in the visitor’s parking lot on the East Peoria Campus reported being slapped by an acquaintance after a verbal dispute. The victim was not injured and declined to prosecute.

8:08 p.m. August 14 – Damage was discovered to the driver side rear quarter panel of a vehicle parked at WoodView Commons. The damage was a scratch approximately 2 feet long.

7:50 a.m. August 21 – ICC officers and the Peoria Fire Department responded to a smoke alarm on the Downtown Campus. Officers found burnt food in a toaster in a work room.  There was no fire.

10:45 p.m. August 21 – A resident of WoodView Commons reported they came home and found the door to the apartment open. There was no sign of forced entry and nothing appeared to be missing.

9:39 p.m. August 22 – Damage to the left front side of a vehicle rented by ICC was discovered. It is unknown exactly when and where the damage occurred.

 

SAFETY TIP:

Theft is the most common crime reported at ICC. Most thefts can be prevented by being more security conscious. Never leave your valuables unattended. Backpacks are a prime target of thieves because they may contain expensive electronic items, calculators, textbooks, etc. Report all thefts immediately to Campus Police at 694-5223 or in person at the ICC Police office on campus.
