“TRON”: The Laser Tag Experience
EAST PEORIA — One of the activities that attracts the students of Illinois Central College is having fun at an event that’s loosely based off a film and involves laser tag.
On Sept. 30, the ICC’s Campus Activities Board put on an event for the students called “TRON,” where two teams of four to five players get to suit up and battle it out in a huge inflated tent shooting lasers. The event took place in the courtyard of the East Peoria campus.
The idea from this came when the students of CAB went to the National Association for Campus Activities where they had a lot of vendors of entertainment from musicians to magicians and more.
“Students seem to really enjoy it,” said Raymond Holloway, student worker of CAB. “The faculty was out there browsing around. People seem to like it and were attracted to how large it was.”
According to Rhonda Elmore, coordinator of student leadership and engagement student activities, the completed risk release forms indicated that the turnout was 185 that participated.
The event was sponsored by TJohnE, who also helped put the event together. They are a popular group that goes across many colleges in the United States putting on events like this.
There were students who participated more than once and the feedback was positive and some students have hopes that it will come back next year.
“Laser tag is a popular fun game that students love to play,” said Elmore. “It’s a bit of a stress relief for students from their schoolwork.”
