Awareness, attributes, and action. The three “a” alliterations apply to the services of Title IX. Providing care for those in need helps students at Illinois Central College (ICC) to thrive further, move forward, and increase success within their studies and social circles.
Title IX was created to ensure that gender equality and sexual orientation protection are of utmost importance. With this in mind, the accessibility of Title IX Civil Rights and Sexual Harassment is deemed vast. It has the ability to take action against any form of discrimination at any given moment.
In collaboration with ICC’s Campus Police and Dean of Students, safety is the number one priority of each department and ICC.
Campus life should consist of learning and understanding, with the implication of safety and rejuvenation.
Title IX provides comfort and safety to those who need it the most, providing a representative to listen, learn, and understand the situations of those who feel discriminated against, harassed, etc; by providing counseling and one of the first places to talk to someone in a safe environment, Title IX is a good first step.
Awareness of Title IX’s existence is another big priority for ICC staff and administration to increase the safety of students and elevate their learning minds. Being able to rely on an individual to help you move forward after a traumatic event will help move you toward success.
Title IX is located on the third floor of the ICC East Peoria Campus in room 338C. With Pachaunce Allen Walker as the representative of Title IX in ICC and her vast legal background in civil rights and criminal justice, those who report to Title IX are in good hands.
