Success at Illinois Central College
By Allison Salinas, 4/17/19
“The struggle for college students is real. The late-night studying, group projects, internships, and more cause a high level of stress. The desire to push yourself through different challenges creates many different ways to succeed.”

My journey at Illinois Central College will provide future students with ways to survive and also create a way to bring out the golden times that hold dear memories and friendships for years to come. The best way to get through various obstacles is to learn how to breathe through the tougher times and let go of what was and accept what is.
During my time at ICC, I struggled with severe health issues and fought to stay above water throughout my entire two years. However, I also gained friendships, prayed with other students about their struggles and embraced the heart and soul of what ICC has to offer. The magnitude of the professors here on campus and their willingness to help you through is simply amazing. The academic support center provides tutors that excel in challenging students to create wonderful studying habits. They also strive to come up with ways to understand the material that is unique to every student’s learning ability.
So, if you are a student that is just starting your journey, take advantage of all of the avenues that ICC has to offer. Get involved as much as possible. Seek out clubs, internships, jobs, new friends and most importantly, find your way through the path to success. Although my journey is bittersweet, I will never forget all of the hard work and dedication that was put forth and the memories that I hold dear.
