Students have a chance to show off their short films in April
ICC students will be able to have their short film shown to an audience at the ICC Student Short Film Festival, on April 16, at 3 p.m., in Room 123A at the Academic Building, East Peoria campus.
The festival will take film entries of any genre and technique, with the only limitation being that the entry must be ten minutes or less.
Any current, former, or prospective ICC student may enter their short films at filmfreeway.com/ICCStudentFilmFest. The deadline for entries is April 4.
Previous winning entries can be found at the ICC Student Film Festival YouTube channel here.
“The Film Festival is just our way of finding out what kind of talents our students have, and letting them use their creative juices in a positive way and then displaying it for everybody to see,” Debbie Hedemann, professor of Mass Communication and a member of the festival committee, said.
Three prizes will be awarded to the best entries, as well as an honorable mention. The entries will be judged by an independent panel of judges, which will be made up of an independent documentary filmmaker, someone who was previously a commercial producer, and a professor who teaches film.
On the day of the festival, audience members will be able to vote on their favorite film.
The ICC Student Short Film Festival has been done annually for 18 years.
This year the committee which sets up the festival is currently made up of three ICC professors: Debbie Hedemann, Chris Gauthiér, and Mike Kaliski.
