The Illinois Central College Women’s Softball team is coming off of two wins on a very good season, and part of their success has been the contributions that Sydnee Usherwood has made. Leading the team in hits, Usherwood has been a superstar for the cougars.
Usherwood is a freshman outfielder and biology major from Atlanta, Illinois. She attended Olympia High School. Usherwood, with one of the best batting averages on the team at .400, gives the cougars a chance for a championship run.
“I’m really big on self-discipline and I always work towards perfecting mechanics and pitch identification. So I always hold my hitting performance to the highest level. I’m always known for saying “just one more pitch” in the batting cage,” Usherwood said.
Usherwood will play a pivotal role in the cougars’ homestretch of regular-season games, as they look to extend their win streak. The cougars have home-field advantage against the Heartland Community College Hawks on Tuesday, April 19. This game is the first of five this week. After claiming a strong win against the Lincoln Land Loggers, they hope to keep this momentum as they go up against the five teams later this week.
Good Luck Cougars!
