Same Sea, Different Ship
As winter fast approaches and days grow shorter, it’s easy to feel like there are not enough hours in a day. When responsibilities remain but the solstice changes, one can feel hard-pressed for time, leading to stress.
While some stress is good, the majority of it isn’t and the worries caused by it can shave years off of a lifespan. Bobby McFerrin may have sang it best, “Don’t worry, be happy.”
Because school and the pressures of life aren’t going anywhere and problems don’t just run away when you growl at them, here are some tips on how to stay on top of things to prevent catching a case of the worries.
Invest in a planner. Write everything in it and carry it with you everywhere; it’ll become a good friend.
Purchase an alarm clock. No one likes to be late in the morning so start the day off right without the rush.
Take some time to clear your mind. A nice walk in the park or around campus to get some fresh air can make all the difference.
Find a good friend to talk to. Sometimes the attic can become cluttered and a good vent can breathe out the dust.
Ask for help, no one can do everything themselves. Put pride aside and let someone help carry the load in their downtime.
Help someone else. The best way to help yourself is to lend a hand. It can take your mind off of your worries and pull the ripcord on your own motivation.
At the time it may seem counterproductive but give it a try and you’ll see the benefit, plus you’ll be doing a good thing.
Yeah, life sometimes throws its worst but if you give it your best, you’ll be one step ahead. At any rate, keep on keepin’ on.
