Quick Hits 2/16 – 2/22
With the winter weather rushing in students can find ICC’s Emergency Response Guide here, which recommends that students should be on the lookout for the current conditions of the roads. Students should also remember to bundle up to prevent heat loss.

Month-long events:
- Student Life Writing Contest – The time to submit entries is from Feb. 10 to March 14. Students can send their poems, short stories, and research papers to Student Life and receive cash prizes. More details can be found here.
Sunday, February 16
- Oscar-Nominated Shorts: Live Action – This will occur from 4-6 p.m., in the Lecture Recital Hall, Room 127F, in the Academic Building, East Peoria campus. Students can watch free screenings of Oscar-nominated short films, which they can reserve tickets for here.

Monday, February 17
- General Studies Visit Day – This will occur from 9 a.m. to noon, in Arbor Hall, Peoria campus. Interested visitors will be able to see what life is like as an ICC student by exploring the programs offered by ICC, touring the campus, and checking out the resources available to students.
- U.N.I.T.E. Weekly Club Meeting – This will occur from 4-5 p.m., in the International Room, Room 304A, in the Academic Building, East Peoria campus. Queer students will be able to meet and hang out with other queer students.
Tuesday, February 18
- Augustana College Transfer Center Table Visit – This will occur from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Atrium outside the East Peoria bookstore. Augustana College will have representatives there to answer any questions students may have about transferring there.
- D&D Weekly Club Meetings – This will occur from 12-4:30 p.m., in Room 233B in the Academic Building, East Peoria campus. Plan epic adventures and play D&D with fellow students.

Wednesday, February 19
- University of Illinois Springfield Transfer Center Table Visit – This will occur from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Student Center, Peoria campus. University of Illinois will have representatives there to answer any questions students may have about transferring there.
- African American History Month Lunchtime Trivia – This will occur from noon to 1 p.m., in the Student Center, Peoria campus. Students will be able to show off their knowledge of African American history and win prizes.
- Free Meditation Sessions – This will occur from 1:30-2:30 p.m., in the East Peoria campus library. Students will be able to recharge with a free meditation session.
- Utilizing Time Management – This will occur from 2-3 p.m., in the East Peoria campus library. This event will help students learn how to balance life, work, and school.
- Black Excellence Showcase – This will start at 6 p.m., in the Performing Arts Center, East Peoria campus. Students will be able to enjoy singing, dancing, poetry, and a fashion show from Black artists and creatives. Admission is free and open to anyone.
Thursday, February 20
- African American History Month Lunchtime Trivia – This will occur from noon to 1 p.m., in the Dining Hall, East Peoria campus. Students will be able to show off their knowledge of African American history and win prizes.
- Free Yoga Sessions – This will occur from 1:30-2:30 p.m., in the East Peoria campus library. Students can participate in a free yoga session to relieve stress and tension.
- LGBTQ+ Talkspace – This will occur from 3-4 p.m., in the International Room, Room 304A, in the Academic Building, East Peoria campus. A time and space for LGBTQ+ students to receive peer-led support and share experiences.
- Ready to Work Expo – This will occur from 4-7 p.m., in the AIT Building, East Peoria campus. Students will be able to experience hands-on demonstrations, meet industry professionals, and ICC faculty and students.
- ICC Concert Choir Broadway Revue – This will start at 7:30 p.m., in the Performing Arts Center, East Peoria campus. See the ICC Concert Choir perform Broadway songs. Admission is free and open to the public.
Friday, February 21
- Ready to Work Expo – This will occur from 10 a.m. to noon, in the AIT Building, East Peoria campus. Students will be able to experience hands-on demonstrations, meet industry professionals, and ICC faculty and students.
