Quick Hits – 11/10/2024
Some exciting news for students is that Quick Hits is back here at Harbinger Student Media!
Thursday, October 31st – Diwali Event
The day after the Halloween party, ICC held a Diwali-themed event to bring awareness to and celebrate Indian culture.
Authentic Indian food, clothing, music, and henna were at this event.
Several students picked out their favorite music and danced.

Tuesday, November 12
- Eastern Illinois University Transfer Table – from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Atrium outside the EP bookstore. EIU will have representatives there to answer any questions students may have about transferring there.
- Pre-Health Club Meeting – from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., in 320A in the Academic Building, EP campus. Connect with pre-health students and receive advice from the health sciences faculty.
- Hard Bop Jazz Band – from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in the EP Lecture Recital Hall, 127F Academic building. The ICC Hard Bop Jazz Band will be performing, with admission free and open to the public.
Wednesday, November 13
- Illinois State University Transfer Table – from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Atrium outside the EP bookstore. ISU will have representatives there to answer any questions students may have about transferring there.
- Uncovering the Core Discussion – at noon, in 212C Academic Building, EP campus. Dr. Lydia Presley will be discussing Eric Gansworth’s book, Apple (Skin to the Core). Dr. Presley will be focusing on the book’s themes of Indigenous identity and cultural resistance. Refreshments will be provided.
- Medical Pre-Professional Panel – from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the EP Dining Hall. Six guest speakers from different medical disciplines will share their experience and expertise to students.
Thursday, November 14
- University of Illinois Springfield Transfer Table – from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Student Center, EP campus. UOI will have representatives there to answer any questions students may have about transferring there.
- Methodist College Transfer Table – from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Student Center, EP campus. Methodist College will have representatives there to answer any questions students may have about transferring there.
- Free Yoga Sessions – from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., in 304A in the Academic Building, EP campus. Students can participate in a free yoga session to relieve stress and tension.
- Culinary Arts Visit Evening – from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., in Dogwood Hall at Peoria campus. Tour Peoria campus’s state of the art kitchen and classrooms. If students wish to come, they must register online.
- Vocal Jazz Fall Performance – from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in the EP Lecture Recital Hall, 127F Academic building. The ICC Vocal Jazz club will be performing swing, gospel, Latin, and ballads. Admission is free and open to the public.
Friday, November 15
- Fashion Club Meeting – from noon to 2 p.m., in 131C in the Academic Building, EP campus. Students can interact with fellow fashion enthusiasts and participate in ICC’s fashion show at the end of this semester.
Sunday, November 17
- National Apprenticeship Week – from November 17 to November 23. A celebration of the successes and value of apprenticeships.
Monday, November 18
- Creative Writing Club – from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., in 308A in the Academic Building, EP campus. Connect with fellow writers and support one another in the writing process.
- Millikin University Guitar Ensemble – from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in the EP Lecture Recital Hall, 127F Academic building. The Millikin University Ensemble will be performing, with free admission to the public.

- Western Illinois University Transfer Table – from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Atrium outside of the EP bookstore. WIU will have representatives there to answer any questions students may have about transferring there.
- Relax in the Stacks – from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the EP library. Students will be able to enjoy snacks and therapy dogs to help relieve stress.
Wednesday, November 20
- Transgender Day of Remembrance – from 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., in 212C/D in the Academic Building, EP campus. The Minority Student Retention Team will be honoring the lives lost to anti-transgender violence and celebrating the victims. Refreshments will be provided.
Thursday, November 21
- Monmouth CollegeTransfer Table – from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Atrium outside of the EP bookstore. Monmouth College will have representatives there to answer any questions students may have about transferring there.
- Creative Minds Talent Show – from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the EP Dining Hall. The Creative Minds Club will be hosting a talent show featuring music, poetry, and short stories performed by both students and professors. If students wish to participate and compete for gift cards, they can email the president of the Creative Minds Club, Skye, at sr070a@lab.icc.edu.
Friday, November 22
- Fashion Club Meeting – from noon to 2 p.m., in 131C in the Academic Building, EP campus. Students can interact with fellow fashion enthusiasts and participate in ICC’s fashion show at the end of this semester.
Saturday, November 23
- Fall 2024 Fashion Show – from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Auditorium in the Performing Arts Center, EP campus. The ICC Fashion Club will be showing off their creations. If students are interested in modeling or designing, they can contact Clarice at cg535a@lab.icc.edu.

Wednesday, November 27 and Thursday, November 28 are Thanksgiving Break. No classes, clubs, or events are planned during these days. Students may finally relax.

- The Second City’s “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Sweater” – at 7:30 p.m., EP Performing Arts Center. Satirical comedy brought to ICC by The Second City. Tickets can be bought online and are $25 for students.
Sunday, December 1
- Philharmonic Chorale Holiday Concert – from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Auditorium in the Performing Arts Center, EP campus. Students can see the Philharmonic Chorale perform seasonal songs and carols. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online or at the door on the day of the concert.
