One Book, One College Panel Opens the Discussion

Wednesday, September 4th marked the kick start of yet another One Book, One College campaign here at ICC. The primary (or opening) event, a panel discussion with ICC professors about the book, invited Jennifer Costa, Dr. Aaron James, and Susan Sanders to speak about express their thoughts about innovations in glass, time, and sound technology respectively.
The One Book, One College program is a year-long, interdisciplinary program designed to engage and connect the ICC community through reading and discussion of the same book. The choice reading this semester, How We Got to Now by Steven Johnson, highlights six of the most influential inventions and concepts that have shaped history and our way of life today. The topics, in addition to glass, time awareness, and sound technology, include cold adaptation, light utility, and advancements in hygiene.
Upcoming for the One Book, One College program there will be several seminars on specific individual chapters of the book held in Room L307 of the East Peoria Campus Library.
The next discussion will be held Tuesday, September 17 at 3 PM and will feature Brian Weaver talking about cold adaptation. Sue Sanders will then host a discussion about sound technology on at 11:30 AM on September 30th.
The month of October features Jennifer Costa covering glass innovations on Tuesday the 8th at 12 PM and Chris Gauthier talking about light utility on Thursday, Oct. 31st.
The only November seminar is scheduled for Monday the 11th hosted by Dr. Aaron James at 11:30 AM and the last discussion of the semester will be held Tuesday, December 3rd at 1 PM at the Arbor Auditorium on the Peoria Campus with Chef Charles Robertson covering cleanliness.
