Our news team is a breath of fresh air as we offer a new perspective to what Harbinger Student Media will be presenting this semester. Harbinger Student Media aims to bring you the latest and most relevant ICC news. Our team consists of contributors, three Interns, four Editors, three Advisors, and one Advising Manager. Our staff consists of students who have a passion for reporting. The strength and many levels of experience combined offer confidence that not only will we produce great works but that we will do so in a manner that keeps you coming back for more.

My name is Rachael Hirstein, and I have recently switched majors from five years of biology to business at ICC. I have a background in news editing and I will be leading the News section for Harbinger Student Media.

Hello everyone, I’m Abigail Jackson. My role at Harbinger Student Media is Video Cast Producer. I am Majoring in Engineering. I’m also an Artist. I am experienced in producing and editing Vodcast and Podcast, as well as, well versed in Adobe Photoshop.

Hi everyone! My name is Jaxson Jason and I’m the Sports Editor at Harbinger Student Media. This is my first year of college and I’m super excited to be here with you all! I’m very knowledgeable in the Sports world. I’m an avid Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Hockey fan. I’m pursuing a Journalism degree with the intention of transferring to SIU in a few years. For now, however, I plan on sharing my knowledge of sports as well as my opinions on topics at hand to our viewers!

Hello Cougars, my name is Stephanie. I’m the Feature News Editor. I first studied under the Psychiatric Rehabilitation program here at ICC after a change of heart I’m now studying to become a journalist. I have a short story published in a book and participated in a paid internship which granted me experience in Freelance Journalism, as well as marketing. I’m excited to expand my knowledge and experience in new ways while involved at Harbinger Student Media. I look forward to meeting many of my fellow classmates and bringing topics that are not only interesting but also enriching to your lives.

Hi, my name is Rachel. I’m majoring in Communications but also feel drawn to possibly minoring in Psychology. I’m an intern at Harbinger Student Media my responsibilities range from technological support to proofreading and so much more due to my extensive range of experience in many aspects which are relevant to the production of News Media. My assets include public speaking, writing, and the use of technology in the areas of communication, arts, and editing. I’m excited to grow in my knowledge as well as refine my previously established skills.
Gavin Schroeder
Film Production Intern
My name is Gavin Schroeder and I graduated from Washington Community High School in 2021. I joined Harbinger Student Media to tone my skills as a photographer and videographer and be around creatively minded people that have a strong drive/passion. I am pursuing an Associate in Arts with the goal in mind to transfer to a 4-year school to study film. I have in the past had experience working as a Production Assistant (P.A) on a documentary. I’m also currently enrolled in a photography class at ICC that is taught by the highly qualified Professor Gauthier in which I am learning so much about how to properly navigate my camera and get the best results.

Hi, my name is Dylan! I’m in my sophomore year, studying Journalism. I’m excited to join Harbinger Student Media and use my interpersonal skills to report and photograph events and issues. I look forward to writing about news, sports, and entertainment.
