Most of us will never get to see the moon up close. However, there is a new exhibit at the Peoria Riverfront Museum that gives you an up-close and personal look at our moon. And it gets even better for high school and college students because students that visit with a valid school ID get in for free until November 10th.
Visitor services associate Sierra Pope for the PRM had to this to say regarding their latest additions. “The moon is very friendly and that is something both adults and kids can come see. We also have Vantage Points which is on loan from the Whitney Museum of American Art [from New York]…which is something not a lot of people have seen or would ever have the change to see unless they go to New York.”
Abigail McDonald, another associate at the museum, believes that the exhibits alone aren’t the only important factor in the museum. McDonald says, “I think that it’s important for people to experience history and culture in a museum that prioritizes art, history, science, and achievement. I love being involved in an organization that people come to learn and explore in a way that is inviting and friendly.”
Both of our associates were in agreement that being a part of the museum and interacting with the public was a positive aspect of the job.
Pope, who majors in hospitality, says that she “liked the interactions with people and seeing the tourism side of it.”
While the Vantage Points and Moon exhibits aren’t the only things the Peoria Riverfront Museum has to offer, much like free admission, they’ll only be in view for a limited time only.
Visit before Sunday, November 10th and experience these fantastic exhibits. Opportunities like this only come once in a blue moon.
