ICC’s second spring semester blood drive fails to reach goal on first day
Three days ago was the start of ICC’s second blood drive this semester, with the day after being the final day of the drive.
The first day of the blood drive took place in the East Peoria campus Dining Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the second day took place in Room 245 of the AIT building, also at the East Peoria campus and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The first day had a donation goal of 21 units of blood, of which only 16 were donated. On the second day, the goal was higher, at 24 units of blood.
“Our goal today is a little bit higher since we are in a different building,” Jess Winchell, who is one of the nurses at the blood drive gathering donations, said. “So we are going to try to hit that goal.”
This blood drive was organized by the ICC women’s volleyball team.
“Come out and donate. Donating is really important, it helps save lives,” Winchell added. “Our next [drive] is October 1, so it’ll be next school year.”
