ICC Women’s Basketball Hosts 10th Annual Jamboree
The ICC women’s basketball program hosted its 10th annual ICC Jamboree this past Saturday, and it was a huge success. Twenty teams participated, and more than 100 spectators were in attendance. This event even had some big names in the crowd. Hall of Famer and former ICC basketball Coach Lorene Ramsey was seen on the sideline. In addition, 16 schools and 27 coaches attended and scouted players for recruitment to their schools.
The scores from the games cannot be posted due to National Junior College Athletic Association rules. However, individual statistics can be found here, and three game wrap-ups are below.
Also, Harbinger Student Media sports photographer Noah Markunas contributed the game photos published with this story.
ICC vs. Joliet
The Cougars looked strong all game long. They started with a very dominant first quarter that really set the tone of this game. Joliet tried to fight themselves out of the big deficit. This jamboree doesn’t really act like a game as there are no free throws, and there is a running clock, but it still serves as a good opportunity for the teams to start their season off on a good note.
ICC vs. Vincennes
Both teams started out hot right at the start of the game for the first three minutes of the game, then it started to slow down. Both teams were hitting the three very well in this game. It was a great game if you loved offense.
ICC vs. SWIC
The Cougars went back and forth at the start of this game. This first quarter was a physical game as both teams were attacking the basket. SWIC had some great defense that made it tough for the Cougars to score. From the middle of the second quarter all the way down to halftime, the Cougars found momentum. The Cougars were tested in this game, and it was a great experience of what this team will be like in this season.
Great reporting Brock!
