ICC Volleyball Victory over Rend Lake

Illinois Central College (ICC) Volleyball team get their sixth victory over Rend Lake on the Sophomore Day, a day where the sophomores are awarded with photos and the titles that they won during the two years in ICC. ICC, #10th-ranked in Division II Volleyball in all over the U.S, got a victory with a 3-1 score, the sets were 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-21. Now the volleyball team has twenty-seven victories and ten losses. At the end of the game, it was time to celebrate the last year of the Sophomores.
ICC started with Hope Allen (#4), sophore from Edelstein, as a right hitter, Gracie Schultz (#18), sophore from Minonk, as a middle blocker, Raquel Frakes (#10), sophore from Washington, as a outside hitter, Emily Allison (#11), freshman from Rock Island, as a outside hitter, Emily Cronkhite (#8), freshman from Metamora, as a libero and Mckinley Daniels (#2), sophore from Bloomington, as a setter.
The game didn’t start as usual for the cougars, with a good defense from Rend Lake and some mistakes from the Cougars, leading to a loss for the Cougars on the first set. In the second set, the cougars improved both in chemistry and skills. Spectacular assists came from Daniels and important digs from Cronkhite, the score was a tie, 1-1.
The third set started with a solid performance from attackers Allen, Schultz and Hannah Tellor (#14), and with fabulous aces from Frakes. ICC started to dominate the game with a 2-1 score. The last set was led by the blocks from Kaitlyn Baumann (#17) and Sophie Adams (#9), and a last minute strong performance from all the team, ICC secured the victory over Rend Lake, and the game finished 3-1 for the cougars.
The lady cougars go on the road to Hillsboro, Mo., on Saturday, October 22, 2022, for a double header against Missouri State West Plains at 10 a.m., then Jefferson College at 11 a.m. When they come home they kick off the district tournament here at ICC on Nov 5.
