Thursday, June 4, 2015– The 2015-16 women’s soccer team will have a new face on the sidelines.
Illinois Central College athletic director, Sue Sinclair, officially introduced William Hudson as only the third head coach in the history of the ICC women’s soccer program.
Hudson joins ICC from Washington Community High School, where he spent the last seven years as varsity women’s soccer coach.
Hudson, a Rock Island HS grad, played collegiality for Bradley University. Add his time as head coach of WCHS women’s varsity soccer and Hudson is very familiar with the potential of players in the ICC area.
“I think the quality of players that can be produced in the area is awesome.” Hudson said. “I look at tapping into that potential and making ICC a successful college program.”
Hudson is also the owner and operator of Happyfeet Legends soccer club of Peoria. HappyFeet, a franchise with over 80 organizations across the country, introduces children as young as 2-years old to the world of soccer.
“Creating brave creative leaders for life,” the Happyfeet motto, is right inline with ICC’s goals.
“ICC has a proud tradition of developing strong student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field and court.” Sinclair said.
Hudson takes over head coaching duties from, new Dean of Students, Emily Points. Points has coached the Cougars for the last 13 years.
“Even though my responsibilities have changed at the college, I still want the program to be successful.” Points said.
With Points taking care of schedule and travel for the upcoming season prior to Thursday’s’ announcement, Hudson will get to work on filling the remaining eight scholarships available.
The current roster sits at 10 members, five of which are returning and five that Points signed this past off-season.
Hudson will have his team on campus as early as Aug. 1 to begin practice for the upcoming season. With the 2015-16 schedule yet to be announced, it is likely the first game will be mid-August.
