Saturday, September 10, Illinois Central College (ICC) will host the 41 Annual Landscape and Garden Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Horticulture Land Lab on the East Peoria Campus. The event is free to attend and open to the public. Enrollment information will be available from 9 a.m. to noon for anyone interested in pursuing a horticulture career.
“Students involved in our horticulture program have a high career placement rate due to their experience working with an accredited All-American Selections Garden,” said Corinne Brown, Horticulture Program Director.
The theme is “Games in the Gardens,” which will feature seminars to show the talents of winners of the All-American Selections. There will be a showcase of the many flowers and vegetables they have grown.
“This event is a great way for novice and expert gardeners alike to gain hands-on experience that they can take with them to their own gardens,” said Brown.
There will be tours of the facility and greenhouse available and other family-friendly activities. There will be a showcase of flowers and plants by ICC Horticulture students available for purchase. Local garden clubs, nurseries and landscapers will provide exhibits for visitors to enjoy during the event.
