Excellent End to Year of Student Art
EAST PEORIA — On display for the first time during Arts Week this April, the 131D student art gallery is currently showing a collection of the best works by ICC students until the end of the spring semester.
The collection was juried by Doug Goessman of Peoria, an artist and art instructor for Richwoods High School. Judging by “skill, creativity and overall execution,” Goessman said to be both “surprised and not surprised” at the art given by our students. “I know these kids are serious, and I knew they would deliver as they always do.”
Featured works in this collection vary from oil on canvas paintings to colored pencil sculptures, showing dynamism in the students and progression in their creations. Like the preceding high school art show in March, over 50 works are being displayed in the gallery.
“I can’t believe freshman can do this stuff man” said ICC art student Elliot Miller. “It’s actually really impressive.”
All works were indeed impressive. Particular works to check out: “Crazy Art” by Hannah Miller, “Stop and Go” by Lauren Marrett, and “Wax Hand” by Breille Stanford.
The gallery will be on display until May 13th, the last day of the spring semester. It features many works by outgoing students and newcomers alike, all of whom would appreciate some appreciation for their hard work this year.
Gallery hours are typically 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
