Cougars Women’s Soccer suffers tough loss against Lewis & Clark

East Peoria, IL – It was a beautiful day for some soccer Wednesday afternoon, as the Illinois Central College Women’s Soccer team prepared for it’s home opener against preseason nationally-ranked Lewis & Clark.
The Cougars wound up getting things going early, netting a goal in the opening five minutes of the game. Despite preseason rankings always being based off of last year’s teams and despite that quick Cougar goal, the Trailblazers came to play.
For a majority of the game, Lewis & Clark had the possession battle down. By that, they were able to get off more opportunities. Then by that, they were able to net more goals. By the time the clock ran down to halftime, the Trailblazers had already scored six times. It was 6-1 Lewis & Clark at the half.
The second half featured even more goals from the Trailblazers and some occasional opportunities from the Cougars, but nothing more. Three more goals were scored in the second half for Lewis & Clark, and by match’s end, the Cougars had lost by a score of 9-1.
The next Cougars Women’s Soccer home game is September 7th at 4:00 pm against Kaskaskia Community College out of Centralia, Illinois. For more on the Cougars Women’s Soccer program, follow them on Twitter (@iccladysoccer) and for all things ICC Sports, follow us at @ICCSportsLive.
