Campus Housing is closing after Spring 2025 semester

Five hours ago, students who live in Campus Housing received an email informing them that Campus Housing is going to close after this semester.

The company which owns the Student Housing complex, Illinois Central College Student Housing LLC, does not have the resources to continue to maintain the complex, which needed facility updates, specifically the stair replacement throughout the complex.

Jon Neidy, Vice President of Student Success, was the one who sent the email.

“We understand that this news may be difficult, especially for those who were planning to renew their lease for the summer or fall. Our priority is to support you through this transition and provide you with as much time as possible to secure alternative housing,” Neidy said in the email.

Neidy also let students who live in Campus Housing know that ICC is currently compiling a list of local housing options, which will be shared with relevant students by March 21.

As for questions, Neidy informed students of several ways in which they can get answers.

For students with questions about their leases, special services, or extension requests, Neidy suggested reaching out to the Director of Housing and Residential Life, Ethan McDougall.

For questions not related to leases, Neidy suggested reaching out to Jen Winne, the primary contact for housing questions or concerns.

Neidy also mentioned that Student Housing will be hosting two Q&A sessions in the Housing Clubhouse, March 7 at 3 p.m. and March 10 at 2 p.m.
