Pulled pork on a bun was served on Wednesday, October 19, for a greater cause than just our own personal satisfaction. The Agri-Business Club is a club focused on the business aspect of farming and agriculture and expanding personal knowledge about the corporate aspects.

Jon Downey, a member of the ICC Agri-Business Club, has been involved in the organization for over a year and was entrusted with overseeing the fundraiser event.  The meal included a pulled pork sandwich, chips and a drink for only $7.

“A majority of the funds from “Smoke A Chop” is focused on funding personal recreational activities and the club’s trip to PAS,” Downey said.

PAS, or the National Postsecondary Agricultural Organization Conference, is where student organizations related to agri-business gather together and compete with each other.

Competitions and workshops at PAS are all focused on business development within the Agriculture sector. The workshops prepare aspiring students for job interviews and provide feedback on ways to improve.

The success and understanding of business development in Agriculture are all focused on creating a profound career.

Could you imagine a $7 pulled pork sandwich meal could create such a career path for a fellow student?
