Thursday, September 15, a term used quite frequently throughout Illinois Central College (ICC) monthly Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting, “Game changer,” is a fundamental way to describe the ingenuity of Illinois Central College’s legislation. The opportunity to apply yourself to the well-being of something greater than yourself is an aspect that drives individuals such as those on the Executive Board and the Board of Trustees.
Throughout the BOT meeting, topics discussed that match the “game-changing” tribulation of the quality of life and education here at ICC focused on three key attributes: functionality, favorability, and fruition (the three F’s to elevation). One of the applications of the three F’s during this meeting of elevating legislation involved a hefty and expensive outcome, all due to positive light and well-being for the entirety of the college.
Through hard work, dedication, and impeccable execution, the BOT and Administration are competing for a $10 million grant to develop a new Child Care Center at ICC’s Peoria North Campus. This additional Child Care Center assists part-time students with kids, expanding the services currently offered on East Peoria Campus to the Peoria Campus offers students more opportunities for convenience and overall success.
“Giving them the ability to pick up and drop off their kids at the same place they are taking classes,” Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey, President of ICC, said.
This will be considered a revolutionary “game changer” for the students and ICC as a whole, considering the needs of the students before the needs of the Trustees themselves. This guarantees efficiency and a brighter future for ICC than ever before.
More on the progress of this “game changer” at the next Board of Trustees meeting, Thursday, October 20, 2022. The meeting is open to the public and offers an in-depth understanding of the progress happening at ICC.
