#7 Women’s Basketball rolls to 55-point win over Ellsworth
East Peoria, Ill. – All that separated the #7 ICC women’s basketball team (1-1) from a road trip to Mason City, Iowa, and the home opener was a game against Ellsworth.
ICC got off to a good start, a 10-1 run to be exact. It turned into an 18-5 score after a quarter.
Then, it was another double-figures run, with a basket from Rocky Stanley capping off an 11-0 run that had the lead over 20 points. ICC was able to push the lead even further, turning into a 28-point lead at the half.
The second half was even better, with ICC outscoring Ellsworth, 51-24. That would turn a 28-point halftime lead into a 55-point win, 88-33.
The biggest note offensively is certainly that all thirteen Cougars reached the scoring column. Jordyn Hare (5’10” Fr. F – Macomb, IL) led the Cougars in scoring with 13 points. Madison Faulkner (5’10” So. F – Rochester, IL) followed with 10 points. The Cougars defense was top-notch in this one, holding Ellsworth to single-digit scoring quarters in both the first and second, and only allowing 10 points in the fourth. Also, the Cougars forced 31 turnovers.
