Men’s Soccer: Illinois Central College vs. Heartland Hawks

3 goals in the second half lifts Illinois Central over Heartland.

The Illinois Central College Cougars men’s soccer team traveled to Bloomington Normal on Wednesday, September 14th for a game against the Heartland Hawks.

 

ICC and Heartland were tied at halftime, but after that, the floodgates opened for the Cougars. A crucial mistake by the Heartland goalkeeper gave ICC a corner kick in the 50th minute of the game. The Heartland goalkeeper made the first initial save on a shot taken by the Cougars, but accidentally stepped out of bounds, and ICC gained a corner kick. The corner kick was taken by Rodrigo Siqueira and landed perfectly upon Gaston Pondal’s head for the goal.

 

Thomas Driscoll adds a late goal from about 20’ out to secure the 3-0 victory from ICC.
