Illinois Central College’s volleyball team defeated Prairie State College in four sets this morning by the score of 25-14, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18.
The Cougars controlled most of the play in the match, but got complacent, according to Coach Sue Sinclait and gave up some easy points.
This is part of the reason why they dropped the second set, after comfortably winning the first. The Cougars had plenty of unforced errors in the second set that came back to bite them. The errors played a key role in their 25-23 set loss. In the third and fourth sets, the Pioneers tried to dictate the tempo of the game by using their timeouts in moments where ICC had the momentum, but the Cougars were able to step their game up and outlasted the pressure. With this win, ICC advances to the next round of the consolation bracket. The Cougars will face off against Johnson County Community College at 3:30 Central Time.
